It's official, I found out today that I passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam! The FE exam is an 8-hour exam that tests your knowledge of math, dynamics, materials, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, biology, chemistry, computers, electricity, engineering economics, and ethics. I spent about 3 months studying for this exam. When I wasn’t working, eating, or sleeping, I was studying. The exam basically tests you on what an engineering student should have learned in college. It has been over 10 years since I have done anything with most of the topics, so it took a lot of hard work to relearn the material.
Passing the FE exam is a prerequisite to take the Professional Engineer exam, which is the licensing exam for engineers. So, next year there will be more studying…
